I love to write stories set in fictional worlds, and part of the fun of creating a fictional world, is that you have free rein to do almost anything in it.
Something I've noticed is that while people are keen to have their characters running through fantastical places, they don't always put as much thought into the world itself as they perhaps should have.
Knowing what your race of people looks like and what their cities look like is important, but no matter how much effort you put into describing it, it will feel flat and lifeless if there is no explanation as to why things are like that. Why do your people dress that way? Why do they hold celebrations on the solstice? Why do they put spires on the tops of all their buildings? Why do they ride the giant tigers, instead of the giant wolves that also roam the countryside?

Firstly, i was on conceptart.com and discovered this guy named Jordy Lakiere, who makes really great tutorials on youtube! he teaches really important universal concepts that can be translated to fit your "style" of drawing (realism, anime, digital, traditional, ect!) He explains things like Composition, Light, Perspective, Anatomy, and more!:] What i really like about his videos is that he thoroughly explains things along with giving examples and visuals in realtime. State your business
It's very tempting to create a page with your work without telling the visitor a word about what it is you do. It might be easier for you, but can leave your visitor confused. Tell your visitor what you do and more important, what type of work you will accept.
Keep it clean
This applies to texts, navigation and the overall look for your portfolio. Long texts don't grab people's attention, so keep it short. You're probably skipping sentences as you read this journal.
Navigating a website can sometimes be a chore. It's wise to keep to standards you see on other websites as well. A logo is often a link to the homepage. Highlight the link to the current page so people don't get lost.

In my opinion, there is a lack of art based social websites, online communities, and sharing networks out there. 4 RULESHey.
So the group has been open for 3 months now and I've yet to establish any rules. Now, I've decided to make a few basic rules.
1. DON'T SUBMIT TO FEATURED. This is to simply keep things organized. Instead of having a folder where a whole bunch of different characters are mismatched, we have folders for each group of characters. Plus, it makes all of the pieces equal, so no piece is considered better than the others.
2. ICONS GO IN ICON FOLDER. A few submissions I've gotten were icons submitted to Featured, Allies, Axis, etc. With some I'm willing to keep them in the folder they're put in (unless it's featured, which means I move it to what folder I think it fits) but those icons are either larger than 50 x 50 pixels or look like they'd be good regardless of whether or not it was made to be an icon. If you submit something designed SPECIFICALLY to be an icon (an exception being if you use the piece as your icon but don't intend it to be an icon), PUT IT IN THE ICON SECTION. Sorry fo
